今日はとても嬉しいことに以前の患者さんからお電話がありました。
日本に帰られてからもよくメールを下さるのですが、
今日はお電話があり、センターのスタッフも大喜びでした。
そして一番嬉しかったのは、この脊髄損傷日誌を見てくださっている方がいて、
褒めていただいたそうなのです。 これは本当に
ちょっと涙が出るくらい嬉しかったです。
正直、、、このように書いていても誰が見てくださっているかもわからず、
自分が書いていることが読んでくださっている人の知りたいことなのかもわからず、
色々なメディアにセンターの存在や、私たちの仕事否定され、
本当に辛い思いをしました。
でもそんな時、いつも以前手術を受けられた患者さんや
病院のスタッフ、先生方に励まされてきました。
私はもし日本人患者さんがこちらでの手術を望むのなら、
誰に何を言われてもお手伝いがしたいと思っています。
なぜなら私の父は階段から落ち、植物状態になり、
その時に医師から何の手立てもないといわれました。
それでも何とかして、もう一度話がしたい、、声が聞きたい、
おいしいものが食べさせてあげたい、、、
と毎日そう思いながら自宅で介護していましたが、結局亡くなってしまいました。
その時もしＯＥＧ移植が父の病状に有効であったとしたら、
間違いなく手術を希望していたと思います。
それは他にどんな手段もないからです。
もうこれからの回復は見込めませんと言われたときの絶望感は何にも言い表せません。
脊髄損傷でも治るかもしれない、まだ動くかもしれない！！
そういう思いでいるかたのお力になれるのであれば、
何でもしたいと思っています。
長々と私自身のことを書いてしまいました。
今日の患者さんのお電話のおかげで、明日からまた頑張れます。
本当に色々な方に助けていただいています。
心から感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。
